Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has said that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said that there are no corruption cases against Mohamed Shaveed, the only candidate in FAM election on Thursday.

Media Official of FAM, Shimaz Ali told Sun Media today that ACC told FAM today that after reviewing a case of corruption filed against the candidate for FAM President, Mohamed Shaveed by an independent individual, they have concluded that there are no cases of corruption against him.

Shimad said that aside from the Chair of the FIFA assigned Normalization Committee, ACC confirms that there are no corruption cases regarding the FAM.

The individual that filed the corrupt case against FAM said that the Head of FAM are misappropriating the funds the Government and international organizations has issued to the FAM and the Olympic Committee.

The letter from the individual that filed the case at ACC said that he has information that to influence the FAM election, the money received by different parties are being deposited to the account of the FAM head, (Shaveed) and then tranfered to heads of the clubs and others.

The letter of conclusion of the case sent from ACC to FAM says that documents show that the MVR 1,418,100 issued to the FAM for the first three quarters of 2015 has been used for administrative purposes and to host different tournaments by the Association.

And the documents show that the MVR 2,700,000 issued to FAM to host the Presidents Cup football tournament in Addu and Kulhudhuffushi were used for that tournament and the MVR 205,548.60 issued on March was used for the players and officials taking part in the 2016 Under 12 AFC National Tournament.

ACC also said that although an amendment was brought to FAM regulations to change the number of teams eligible to vote in the congress, no teams eligible to vote in this year’s election received any of the funding issued to FAM.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports have ordered the FAM to delay their election on Thursday since there was an investigation of corruption against them pending at the ACC. But FAM has said that they would host the election on the original date it was intended to.
