Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said that they are taking necessary steps to protect Maldivians from MERS Chronic Virus which has been spreading in some countries of Asia since it appeared in the Middle East in last year’s Hajj season.
A press release issued by HPA says that they are monitoring how it is being spread.
“…HPA is monitoring how this disease is being detected and spread and we are taking the steps to protect the country from this disease.” The HPA statement said.
The statement noted many precautions to stay safe from the MERS Chronic Virus.
The HPA statement advises to take special precautions when travelling to a country where the disease has been found, especially when travelling to a country in the Middle East. And if the travel is for medical purposes, go to as few hospitals as possible. HPA advises to plan the trip and spend as little time in such a country.
Symptoms of MERS include fever and cough and respiratory problems after first two days or so of the fever.
