Boca salvages 2-2 draw with late goal

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Boca Juniors' Nicolas Blandi scored from a spectacular bicycle kick five minutes into second-half stoppage time to salvage a 2-2 draw against Rafaela and give the popular Buenos Aires club a share of first place in Argentina's first division.

Blandi scored just two minutes after Dario Gandin converted a penalty to give underdog Rafaela a 2-1 lead.

Pablo Mouche scored for Boca in the 31st minute, but Fabrico Fontanini equalized for Rafaela in the 60th.

Boca has 25 points in 13 matches, the same as Newell's Old Boys. Newell's defeated Olimpo 2-1 on Sunday.

The last-chance goal came from a corner, which was headed on to Blandi who added the eye-popping finishing.

Mouche scored on a counterattack, breaking down the left side and hitting a 15-meter (yard) shot just inside the near post. Fontanini got his on a header, setting the stage for the two rapid-fire goals.

Boca rested many of its regulars for a second-leg match this week against Chilean club Union Espanola in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. Boca leads 2-1 after the first leg. Striker Santiago Silva and midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme were among Boca's missing.

In other results Sunday, All Boys and San Lorenzo drew 0-0, Lanus won at Godoy Cruz 1-0, and Racing Club defeated Estudiantes 2-0.

Victor Figueroa scored in the 18th for Newell's and Pablo Perez added the second in the 74th. Maxi Laso gave Olimpo a 1-0 lead in the 15th.

Cesar Carranza scored in the sixth minute in Lanus' victory at Godoy Cruz.

Lucas Aveldano gave Racing a 1-0 lead in the 38th and Giovanni Moreno added another late in the match.

In Friday and Saturday matches: Banfield 1, San Martin 2; Arsenal 3, Independiente 1; Velez 0, Argentinos 2; Tigre 4, Union 0.

Colon faces Belgrano on Monday to finish the 13th round.
