Chennai beats Deccan by 10 runs in IPL

CHENNAI, India (AP) — Chennai Super Kings scored a hard-fought 10-run win over Deccan in the Indian Premier League on Friday despite Chargers batsman Cameron White's valiant innings of 77.

White added 68 for the second wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (36) and the target always looked out of reach despite Australian allrounder Daniel Christian chipping in with an unbeaten 27.

"It was a case of getting a good start, we got a good start. But they came back well with some good fielding," Deccan captai Kumar Sangakkara said. "We've been losing too many games because of our bad fielding this season."

The South African exhibited a clever mix of big hits and finely placed shots to made the most of the two reprieves and ensure a steady stream of runs. He added 64 for the second wicket with Suresh Raina (32).

Dhoni contributed a 28-ball 34 with only two fours.
