VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The Los Angeles Kings capped their second victory over the Vancouver Canucks with another cheeky post on their official Twitter account.
"We apologize in advance for anyone this tweet offends: LA Kings lead series 2-0," the Kings' social media team tweeted after Los Angeles won 4-2 on Friday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference series.
After the Kings opened the series with a victory Wednesday night, their official account posted: "To everyone in Canada outside of BC, you're welcome," making light of the notion that the Canucks are disliked outside of their home territory.
The fallout from that playful jab blew up into a minor controversy, with the Kings' vice president of communications and broadcasting issuing an apology.
"We encourage our digital team to be creative, interactive and to apply a sense of humor whenever possible," Mike Altieri said at the time. "To anyone who found it offensive we sincerely apologize."
The first tweet, however, wasn't removed.
