LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Benfica won 2-0 at bottom-side Pacos Ferreira to keep its four-point lead in the Portuguese league on Sunday, extending its unbeaten run to 18 games.
Elsewhere, FC Porto moved back past Sporting Lisbon into second place after Silvestre Varela scored two goals in a 2-1 victory at Gil Vicente.
Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay headed in Ruben Amorim's pass to open the scoring in the 54th minute, and Lazar Markovic added the visitors' second goal in the 67th with a solo effort.
Valera scored for Porto in the 18th and again in the 53rd. Hugo Viera pulled one back for Gil Vicente in the 55th but Porto held on to win.
Sporting, which beat Olhanense 1-0 on Saturday, is one point behind Porto in third place.
