Dynamo eliminate Impact 3-0 from MLS playoffs

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Dynamo advanced to the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference semifinals with a 3-0 win over the Montreal Impact in a knockout match Thursday.

Will Bruin scored twice and Boniek Garcia added the other goal to help Houston advance.

The Dynamo will host New York in the first game of the two-legged Eastern semifinals on Sunday.

Bruin received a backheel pass from Ricardo Clark in the 16th minute, found some space just inside the box and ripped home his fifth career playoff goal.

Garcia converted a penalty in the 27th minute after being tripped by Hernan Bernardello in the box.

Bruin added his second goal in the 72nd off a Corey Ashe pass.

Troy Perkins made five saves for the Impact in their first playoff match.
