Henry stars in Red Bulls 4-0 thrashing of Impact

HARRISON, New Jersey (AP) — Thierry Henry scored a goal and set up two more as the New York Red Bulls ran rampant in a 4-0 victory over the Montreal Impact on Saturday.

Eric Alexander, Tim Cahill and Peguy Luyindula also scored for the Red Bulls who drew level with the Impact in second place of the MLS Eastern Conference.

Henry set up Alexander in the 10th minute, before scoring one of his own in the 16th minute to give the Red Bulls a two-goal cushion at halftime.

Australia's Cahill made it 3-0 with his fifth goal of the season, a customary header off a corner kick from Henry in the second half, with Luyindula completing the rout with a penalty kick in the 87th minute for his first career MLS goal.

The four-goal performance was New York's best this season, eclipsing its 4-1 win over New England on April 20.

In Kansas City, Soony Saad scored twice, his first goals in almost two years, as Sporting Kansas City reclaimed the lead of the MLS Eastern Conference with a 3-0 victory over 10-man Toronto FC.

Claudio Bieler also scored for Sporting, which stretched its unbeaten streak to five matches in front of a Sporting Park-record crowd of 21,126. Toronto capped its miserable evening when Reggie Lambe was given a straight red card in the 56th minute.

Midfielder Adam Moffatt scored two second-half goals to lead the Houston Dynamo to a 2-1 victory at New England Revolution.

Moffatt scored his first goal in the 49th minute, a 25-yard left-footed drive from atop the penalty box area after New England was unable to successfully clear a corner kick taken by the Dynamo's Andrew Driver.

New England found an equalizer through striker Saer Sene in the 56th minute.

Moffatt scored the winner in the 79th minute, with a right-footed shot atop the penalty box area, which ricocheted off the right post and off New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth into the net.

In Portland, Andrew Baptiste scored in second half injury time to give the Portland Timbers a 2-1 win at home to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Marcelo Sarvas opened the scoring for the visitors in the 16th minute, before Ryan Johnson equalized for the hosts mid-way through the first half.

In other matches Saturday, Javier Morales scored a goal and set up Ned Grabavoy and Olmes Garcia to help Real Salt Lake beat FC Dallas 3-0 and Walter Martinez's second half strike gave San Jose a 1-0 win at home to the Seattle Sounders.
