Ghana, Zambia face off in African Cup semifinals

BATA, Equatorial Guinea (AP) — Ghana will have to overcome a grueling extra-time win to beat tricky opponent Zambia in the African Cup of Nations semifinals on Wednesday.

Bidding for its second straight final, Ghana needed a goal from Andre Ayew after a goalkeeping error in the 101st minute to beat Tunisia 2-1 in Sunday's quarterfinals.

A delay in the flight from Gabon to Equatorial Guinea then hampered plans for training on Monday.

Despite the tiredness and disruption, Ghana is still favored to beat Zambia and striker Asamoah Gyan says there is "no excuse" to underperform.

Zambia captain Christopher Katongo, meanwhile, says his team's "unity" can help spring a surprise.
