Album featuring Adhuham’s song wins top honors at Global Music Awards

Ahmed Adhuham has his son features on the World Album.

The World Album – which features a song written and performed by Maldivian musician and songwriter Ahmed Adhuham – has won the Gold Award and the Best in Show distinction at the Global Music Awards.

The World Album was released under the International Artists Project, a globally acclaimed initiative that brings together musicians born in every country of the world. It is recognized as the first album in history to feature artists from every nation, preserving and celebrating 93 languages and 121 musical genres.

At the Global Music Awards, thousands of entries from around the world were evaluated. While multiple projects received Bronze and Silver honors and a limited number were awarded Gold, only one Gold-winning project is selected for the highest overall distinction — Best in Show.

The World Album was awarded this top honor, placing it as the number one project of the year at the awards.

This achievement marks the first time a Maldivian artist has contributed to a project receiving the Global Music Awards’ highest recognition.

Speaking on the achievement, Adhuham described the moment as a breakthrough for Maldivian music on the world stage.

“Being part of a project that received the Global Music Awards’ highest honor is deeply humbling. This recognition proves that Maldivian artists can stand alongside the world’s best when given the opportunity to collaborate globally,” he said.

The recognition adds to Adhuham’s growing international footprint and reinforces the Maldives’ emerging presence in global creative and cultural exchanges beyond tourism.
