Asiavision (AVN) has concluded its annual coordinators’ meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

AVN is a video exchange platform operated by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union's (ABU) news department enabling real-time sharing of news-related content among its member media outlets.

The two-day coordinators’ meeting held on Wednesday and Thursday brought together media professionals from member organizations from various countries, including two from the Maldives, Sun Siyam Media and Public Service Media.

The meeting saw the presentation of AVN's monthly awards based on the popularity of the content shared by the media and the extent to which other media use the content. The awards were presented to the media outlets that have won the award in the past six months.

At the meeting, AVN presented its monthly awards, determined by content popularity and cross-media usage, to outlets that had secured awards over the previous six months.

The meeting also featured critical discussions on the most pressing issues facing modern newsrooms, bridging the gap between technical innovation and academic foundation.

Some of the topics discussed in this regard included utilization of artificial intelligence in the newsroom and journalism in the modern age.

The meeting, attended by some of Asia’s largest media outlets, included exchanges by media outlets on the organization of their newsrooms.

Last year’s AVN coordinators’ meeting was held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
