The Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has announced that waste disposal fees for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be reduced starting February.
In a press release issued Tuesday, WAMCO said the decision is in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to ease waste‑management costs for SMEs. The revised fees will take effect on February 1.
WAMCO added that it is currently in discussions to introduce specific categories or bands that would further reduce charges for SMEs. Details of these categories will be announced in the coming days.
The President made the commitment during a meeting with business owners on December 17, where several participants highlighted the high cost of WAMCO’s waste collection services. Following the meeting, the President instructed WAMCO to find an appropriate solution to the concerns raised by traders.
