MILAN (AP) — AC Milan's high-scoring forward Stephan El Shaarawy has extended his contract with the club by one more year through 2017-18.
Milan made the announcement on its website Thursday, after which El Shaarawy tweeted that he feels "pride and is honored to wear this shirt."
Financial details were not disclosed.
The extension comes after an impressive week for the 20-year-old.
El Shaarawy scored in Milan's 1-1 draw with city rival Inter in Sunday's derby and set up the second goal in a 2-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona last week.
El Shaarawy has scored 16 goals in Serie A this season, two behind league scoring leader Edinson Cavani of Napoli.
Having joined Milan last season at 18, the club announced in July it had extended his contract through 2016-17.
