Maldives Development Alliance (MDA)’s President and Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam states everyone has equal rights to employment, emphasizing that it is unacceptable to deny someone a job based on their political affiliation.

He made the remark in an address to the nation on the occasion of the Republic Day.

In his address, Siyam, citing heads of states are placed in charge of the trusts of the people, called on them to honor these trusts and serve the people with sincerity.

He further called on relevant government figures to ensure Maldives is a nation where all its citizens have equal rights to employment to earn a living.

In this trajectory, he emphasized that it is unacceptable to deny someone their right to employment based on their political affiliation.

Siyam also called on the relevant government authorities to undertake more comprehensive efforts to prevent corruption and theft of state property.

Employment decisions based on the political affiliation of the ruling party have long been a persistent concern. In this regard, various administrations have faced accusations of making excessive political appointments and assigning politically affiliated individuals to technical positions.
