Housing Ministry has issued registries to over 2,000 recipients of land from K. Gulhifalhu.

The Ministry began issuing registries for recipients of land from Gulhifalhu on July 12th.

According to the Ministry, it has issued registries to a total of 2,032 land recipients to date.

The Ministry has extended the deadline to request appointments to complete the registry handover process for recipients who have not yet collected their registries to next Thursday.

The reclamation of Gulhifalhu commenced in July 2024, with the project awarded to Dutch-based Boskalis or USD 120 million (MVR 2 billion).

The previous government held the draw to determine land recipients, but the current administration has revised the land use plan twice since then. Following a re-draw conducted on May 30 under the updated plan, registrations are now being issued.

The current administration has also amended the Gulhifalhu land plot agreement, citing conflicts with the law.
